Mobile Mapping and Data Collection Software

Applications

A Leica MobileMatriX user is any person responsible for managing and collecting spatial information, making measurements e.g. using TPS or GPS instruments in the field to create and update maps and plans. Such users work in a variety of fields:

Survey Data Management – More Than One Coordinate

Leica MobileMatriX stores all computed and imported coordinates with their quality information in the Geodatabase and allows the user to decide which coordinate to use. This eliminates losing old information and permits continuous navigation through computations.

Data Import from TPS/GPS

Analysis of computation and measurements

Coordinate management of different projects with history

Export/Import of points, and quality information

Defined limits for outliers

Seamless dataflow and Easy Data Exchange

All survey data measured in the field is automatically stored into the ESRI Geodatabase format, eliminating the need for data conversion when moving data between Leica MobileMatriX and ESRI’s ArcGIS applications. To update the office database, simply use the synchronization mechanism to transfer the data from office to field and vice versa. To ensure maximum compatibility with all systems, Leica MobileMatriX allows the user to interact with data from different sources, like CAD systems, Shapefiles and Raster Data. Additionally, Leica MobileMatriX provides interfaces from and to the most common TPS formats such as GSI, ASCII, SDR, TDS and Geodimeter.

GIS functionality – Perform full mapping surveys, by editing and collecting attributes
Leica MobileMatriX enables survey crews to map surveys, collect spatial and feature data on the fly, simultaneously anywhere on the globe by integrating GPS/TPS with the power of ESRI ArcObjects mapping and data acquisition abilities. Field crews are able to quickly pick from a list of pre-defined attributes that are associated with a structure to enforce consistent and reliable data standards.

Map Rotation and direct viewing of all measurements

You can navigate, or change the extent of your map to view data for specific locations using the pan and zoom tools. Rotate your map to orientate yourself in the field, just like you would with paper maps.

Wireless sensor communication between Sensor and Tablet PC
Instead of cables to connect the TabletPC (Laptop) with the sensor, wireless communication like a Bluetooth® (or Radio) connection between the TabletPC and sensor is also possible.

Provides surveying computations and COGO

Powerful Survey and Stakeout Computations in Leica MobileMatriX

All measurements taken in the field are automatically displayed in graphical and tabular form, and stored in the Geodatabase. A number of different computation methods for processing the measurements are available:

• Tachometry

• Resection

• Free Station

• Survey Traverse (such as open and closed)

• Stakeout XML reporting for computations provide an easy and flexible tool for customizing reports. With a number of COGO

computations, CAD functionality is available in the field:

• Computations: XY-Point, Delta XY, Direction/Distance and Deflection Angle.

• Curve: Fillet Curve and Circular Curve.

• Intersection computations

• COGO Traverse computation Leica MobileMatriX also includes an easy-to-use, interactive stakeout with visual feedback. Different

ways of performing the Stakeout are available in Leica MobileMatriX.

Layout – Tools for creating and printing Maps

The work of a surveyor does not end after completing the fieldwork – the fieldwork must be documented. This documentation is often conducted by means of creating a map. The task of map creation can easily be fulfilled with the Layout functions supported in Leica MobileMatriX, including customizable, standard objects like legends, North arrows and scale bars. An extensive range of drawing tools are available to modify the extents of the drawing as wellas adding graphic images to create truly customized maps.

Immediate feedback and control of the field measurements
Using Leica MobileMatriX in the field all measurements are immediately displayed on the Map, where they can be computed and checked directly in the field. This avoids expensive remeasuring.
